Daily Sketch #25

Let’s make some imaginary plants!

There are so many kinds of plants, with so many kinds of leaves, flowers, roots and fruit.

Let’s begin by looking at some real plants.

  • What shapes, lines and colors can you find in these plants?
  • How many different kinds of shapes and lines can you find in one plant?

Now start drawing your own imaginary plant. Here are some things to think about your plant as you draw:

What shapes and lines will you use to draw your plant?

Where does your plant live? High on a mountaintop? In a jungle? In the city?

What does your plant smell like?

Does it have fruit? What does the fruit taste like?

Does it have flowers?

How does it feel?

What colors is it?

Does it have special powers?

What is the name of your imaginary plant? If you’d like, write a few sentences about your plant.
