Early Childhood Programs
STUDIO’s Early Childhood Program scaffolds art experiences for children ages three to seven, emphasizing sensory exploration, experimentation, and language building. This two year program is designed to create a permanent art presence in your school through direct services to children, professional development for staff, and parent workshops.
STUDIO’s professional artists collaborate with classroom teachers to plan units in collage, wood construction, paint, clay, and puppetry. Every lesson is designed so that youngsters hone:
- fine motor skills when manipulating art tools and materials
- cognitive skills when making artistic decisions
- language skills when discussing artwork
- social skills when working on group art projects.
PRACTITIONERS and independent evaluators assert that STUDIO’s Early Childhood Program is especially effective for developing language fluency in English Language Learners.
