Arts Audition Boot Camp: Preparing Young Artists for High School Auditions

Middle School Arts Audition Boot Camp is a free, two-week summer program for New York City public school students entering eighth grade who love making art and are interested in applying to specialized public high school arts programs. Designed for rising eighth grade students, the program offers an opportunity to explore their artistic interests, build new skills, and prepare for fall auditions during the summer before eighth grade.

Through Studio in a School’s collaboration with the New York City Public Schools Arts Office and its arts education partners, students receive focused audition preparation led by professional Studio Artist Instructors and NYCPS arts educators. Students strengthen their artistic skills, develop their portfolios, and prepare for interviews as they take the next step toward their creative goals.

Whether students are passionate about visual arts, music, dance, or theater, Boot Camp helps them build confidence, discover new possibilities, and prepare for the next stage of their artistic journey. The program provides specialized instruction, studio supplies, lunch, and free round-trip bus transportation, helping make arts education and high school audition preparation more accessible to students across New York City.

For young artists eager to continue exploring their creativity, Arts Audition Boot Camp offers a supportive environment to grow as artists and prepare for new opportunities in high school.
