Studio Intensives
The Body in Space
Studio in a School is pleased to present Performing in Time, an exhibition of work created by students from New York City public high schools. In their work, these young artists used digital media to visually represent time through the study and examination of the performative body in space. These explorations combine traditional drawing media with digital collage to investigate an understanding of the body–its gestures and postures–in relation to the environment. The artwork is inspired by, and created in response to the students’ visit to rehearsals and a performance at the New York City Ballet of The Most Incredible Thing, a ballet choreographed by Justin Peck, with sets and costumes by Marcel Dzama.
