Seasons Throughout Time

When I think of time, I think of it changing. Every time it changes, the season changes with it. When I saw the ballet performance at the NYCB of “The Most Incredible Thing”, it inspired me to make my artwork. At first I thought of making a timeline of ballet evolving throughout time but when I saw the show I changed my mind. Conceptually, the work represents time changing.

The title for my work is Seasons Throughout Time. The four images represent the four seasons in time, as every season, in the NYCB, is represented by different performances. For winter I selected “Symphony in C”, for spring I selected “Jewels”, for summer I selected “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, and lastly for autumn I selected
“Swan Lake”. The process of creating my artwork was difficult because it was my first time creating an artwork with Photoshop. When I started I didn’t know how to use Photoshop but with time, I learned. Priyanka and Jose, our instructors, taught us how to use Photoshop with tips and tricks which really helped me. When we were working individually they came around to help as well, so I am very grateful to them.

My successful moment was when I learned how to make silhouette figures. I didn’t know at first, so Jose had to come over to help me more than once, but once I got the process down it became easy to make silhouette figures. This work means a lot to me because it was my first Photoshop work and I felt glad to create these images. Also ever since I was a kid I have really liked the ballet, so I was happy that I got to experience the New York City Ballet which inspired me to create this work.

I hope that viewers will understand what my idea is in creating these images. I also hope that when they look at my artwork, they will feel calm because that is how I feel when I am presented with an image of nature which is calm and relaxing. I feel as though I am transported to a pleasant surrounding.
