This week, 1 East 53rd St. Gallery opened its doors to the public to view Studio in a School’s Littlest Learners 2017 exhibition. Littlest Learners highlights artwork created by children ranging from pre-kindergarten through second grade, representing many of Studio in a School’s programs, which serve young people at public schools and daycare centers in all five boroughs. The show includes works of art made by more than 50 students from 19 different New York City public schools, daycare centers, and community-based organizations. It will remain on view until April 28th.
Young children thrive on opportunities to explore, look, discover, play, and create. Studio’s professional artists offer children just such experiences through art activities that also encourage the development of cognitive, linguistic, sensory, and social skills. The rewards of these experiences become apparent when viewing this exhibition. This art reflects an introduction to working with fine arts materials, honing observation skills, and expressing individual experience and imagination. The exhibition is open to the public and the opening hours are Monday – Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Make sure you do not miss the show!
