The Metropolitan Museum of Art

P. S. Art is an annual celebration of achievement in the arts in New York City public schools. This year marks the twenty-third anniversary of the exhibition and the eighteenth year it has been hosted at The Met. This juried exhibition of 137 works of art by talented young artists showcases the creativity of prekindergarten through grade 12 students from all five boroughs, including students from District 75, a citywide district serving students with disabilities. The exhibition consists of collages, drawings, mixed-media works, paintings, photographs, prints, and sculpture. Each work of art demonstrates personal expression, imaginative use of media, the results of close observation, and an understanding of artistic processes.
Each year, we celebrate the opening of P.S. Art by inviting students, their families, and teachers to come together in recognition of a remarkable achievement: having student artwork exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Studio had the honor of recognizing fifteen 12th-grade students with the Studio Award for Excellence in the Arts. This award was established to support young people as they carry their passion for the arts from childhood into adulthood. Each recipient receives a $1,000 award to support their future endeavors, whether for tuition, art supplies, or other resources that help them grow and succeed.
