Harlan Mathieu received a BA in Studio Art from Grinnell College and moved on to receive his MA, MFA in Printmaking, School of Art and Art History at The University of Iowa. After completing these degrees he earned a MS in Elementary Education from Mercy College. He has done additional work at Teachers College Center for Reading and Writing, The Naeg Center for Creativity, Gifted Education, and Talent Development at the University of Connecticut. Prior to working at Studio he worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. For the last twenty years of his career Harlan has worked in elementary education in New York City teaching art in the Early Childhood Grades, both for Studio in a School, and as a licensed Art Teacher for the New York City Department of Education.
