Daily Sketch #88

Sometimes, artists make their own drawing or painting tools. They do this when the tools they have can’t do something that they want to do in their artwork. Or they just want to experiment and explore something new. You can make your own drawing tools too.

Use a rubber band or hair tie to tie three different crayons, pencils, or pens together. Now play with your new tool. Try making different lines and shapes. What happens if you press harder or softer?

What does your new tool do that you couldn’t do before? What name will you give your new tool?

If you would like to share your work with us, email us at artwork@studioinaschool.org. We will share your creations on our ‘Studio in Your Home’ page.
