Studio in a School NYC and The Fine Art Program and Collection at Montefiore Einstein are proud to present Taking Shape 2025: Art at Every Age from Studio in a School NYC, an exhibition of vibrant artworks created by students across New York City. During the 2023-2024 school year, the young artists in this exhibition participated in Studio NYC’s visual arts programs, transforming public school classrooms into thriving art studios.

This exhibition is hosted by Montefiore Einstein Hospital and features high-quality reproductions of more than 50 of outstanding artworks from Studio’s students. The reproductions are on display in the ARTView’s Galleries which consist of three major thoroughfares that connect Montefiore’s campuses. These are high activity zones and not open to the public. However, we are confident that the artworks bring beauty and pleasure to Montefiore’s patients and staff. The head of Montefiore’s Children’s hospital shared this appreciation with us:

An important part of developing health and wellness for children is making sure a child’s creativity and imagination also grows and flourishes. The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein is delighted to partner with Studio in a School and help promote and showcase the artwork from these brilliant children.”

Taking Shape 2025 surveys the artistic development of students from Pre-K through the teen years. Each artwork offers a glimpse into the evolution of a child’s artistic development. As they grow, their new skills and capacities become visually evident in their art. The exuberant artworks of younger children in grades Pre-K – 5 gradually transition into studiously-rendered pieces by adolescents and teens in grades 6-12.

All Studio NYC students gain opportunities to explore varied artistic media, hone new skills, and create works of art. Studio’s artist instructors nurture creativity while building foundational skills such as close looking, making expressive choices, developing critical thinking, and building social-emotional skills such as collaboration and perseverance. The rewards of high-quality visual arts education are apparent when viewing this exhibition.
