Originally from Colombia, South American Daniel Mantilla studied music and visual arts in the city of Ibagué and eventually became active as an exhibiting artist. Later, he lived in Bogotá and decided to learn English so he could study in the United States. In 2001 Daniel moved to Tampa, FL where he received a BFA from the University of South Florida. He then received a Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Studio-Painting and Drawing at School of the Art Institute of Chicago and later moved to New York City where he earned an MFA from Hunter College.
