Studio in a School NYC is pleased to present Studio in the Community: Artworks from PS 457X, an exhibition celebrating the artistic achievements of local students participating in our visual arts education programs. Studio engages children and teens from preschool through 12th grade at New York City public schools and community-based organizations in all five boroughs. Working with Studio artist instructors in collaboration with their teachers, students observe, imagine, and interpret the people, places, and things that make up their lives.

Young Perspectives: Art by Students from the 5 Boroughs

Studio in a School and The Fine Art Program and Collection at Montefiore Einstein are proud to present Young Perspectives: Art by Students from the 5 Boroughs, an exhibition of dynamic artwork created by students across New York City. During the 2024-25 school year, the young artists in this exhibition participated in Studio in a School’s visual arts programs, learning to express themselves in the language of art.

Remembering our Founder Agnes Gund

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our founder, Agnes Gund, a visionary philanthropist, arts patron, and tireless advocate for equity and the arts.

In 1977, Aggie founded Studio in a School in response to severe budget cuts that stripped arts education from New York City public schools. Her unwavering belief that every child deserves access to the arts shaped Studio’s mission and created opportunities for more than one million students over nearly five decades.

Studio engages children and teens from preschool through 12th grade at New York City public schools and community-based organizations in all five boroughs. Working with Studio artist instructors in collaboration with their teachers, students observe, imagine, and interpret the people, places, and things that make up their lives.
