Introducing Studio’s 2025 Annual Review

Our 2025 Annual Review, The Joy of Art, highlights the students, educators, artists, and partners who bring Studio in a School’s mission to life while celebrating milestones such as new applied arts units, expanded internships, and growing community partnerships.
It features inspiring profiles from young artists discovering their creativity to principals, partners, and instructors using art to support equity, confidence, and connection. With powerful stories, vibrant student artwork, and a tribute to founder Agnes Gund, the review invites readers to experience the impact and joy of arts education.
Remembering our Founder Agnes Gund

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our founder, Agnes Gund, a visionary philanthropist, arts patron, and tireless advocate for equity and the arts.
In 1977, Aggie founded Studio in a School in response to severe budget cuts that stripped arts education from New York City public schools. Her unwavering belief that every child deserves access to the arts shaped Studio’s mission and created opportunities for more than one million students over nearly five decades.
